Terms of Use
Service: CMU Academic Development Badge Application Builder Provided by: Teaching and Learning Innovation Center (TLIC), Chiang Mai University ("we", "us", "TLIC") Last updated: 30 June 2026 Version: 1.0
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using the CMU Academic Development Badge Application Builder (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Data Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who may use the Service
The Service is provided for academic and supporting staff of Chiang Mai University for the purpose of preparing badge applications under CMU's academic development framework. You must use your own CMU identity to access it. The Service is intended for adults and is not directed at minors.
3. What the Service does
The Service lets you complete a badge-application form online and download a single, merged, digitally signed PDF bearing a unique Document ID. The Document ID and signature allow the authenticity and integrity of the PDF to be verified by anyone you give it to.
The Service is content-stateless. It does not save your application, your answers, or your uploaded files. Once your PDF is generated and handed back to you, the Service retains only an anonymous verification record (see the Privacy Policy).
4. Your responsibility to keep your own copy
Because we do not store your application, you are solely responsible for downloading and safely keeping the generated PDF. There is no way to retrieve a past application, draft, or PDF from us after your session ends. In-progress drafts are saved only in your own browser and may be lost if you clear your browser data, switch devices, or use private browsing.
5. Accuracy of your submission
You are responsible for the truth, accuracy, and completeness of everything you submit, including any uploaded evidence. Submitting false, misleading, plagiarised, or fraudulent information, or evidence you do not have the right to use, may result in rejection of your application and may be subject to CMU's disciplinary and academic-integrity processes.
6. The Document ID, signature, and verification
- A generated PDF is a record produced by the Service; it is not, by itself, an award, approval, or decision on your application. Badge decisions are made by the relevant CMU committee through the official process.
- The Document ID and digital signature attest that a given file was generated by the Service and has not been altered since. They do not attest to the correctness of the contents you supplied.
- You must not alter, forge, remove, or tamper with the Document ID or digital signature on a generated PDF, or attempt to pass off an altered file as genuine.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of CMU policy;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' data, or the underlying systems;
- probe, scan, overload, disrupt, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure;
- upload malware, or files containing unlawful or infringing material;
- use the Service to impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation;
- scrape, copy, or reverse-engineer the Service except as permitted by law.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, its design, code, form templates, and branding are owned by or licensed to CMU/TLIC. You retain ownership of the content you author and upload. By using the Service you grant us only the limited, transient permission needed to process your content in memory to generate your PDF; we acquire no other rights and retain no copy.
9. Availability and changes
The Service is provided on an "as available" basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of it, and may update these Terms, at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date and communicated through the Service. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated documents will be accepted in any particular process. Thai-language word counts and similar automated estimates are approximate aids, not guarantees.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Thai law, TLIC and CMU shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for loss of data or documents, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service — including any loss of a generated PDF that you did not download and retain. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
12. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by the Data Privacy Policy, which explains what limited personal data we handle and your rights under the PDPA.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent Thai courts, without prejudice to any applicable CMU internal grievance procedures.
